Beautiful DIY Holiday Planters for Way Less Than the Nurseries
Christmas or Fall planters sell for $30-$50 anywhere around here. They are beautiful, but certainly not worth the money for a bunch of branches, foam, and a couple of bows. We put these ones together with stuff we scrounged around the house, and a few bundles of evergreen branches.
Here is what we came up with. 2 lovely Christmas planters for a whopping $12.
Aside from 2 bundles of evergreen branches which we purchased (at $6 ea. which is still overpriced in my opinion), this is what we used. The floral foam blocks came from an old arrangement. I used chicken wire to hold the blocks together, and provide some structure to hold up the branches.
The rest is pretty straight forward. Start filling your containers, with the tallest stuff in the middle first, then move to the edges.
Branches around the edges should hang a bit giving you that fan look.
Once the middle and outside are done, start filling in all the opened space with branches and any other decor you'd like to add.
We used birch logs, some winter berries from an old wreath, and a red burlap bow.
Here is the final product. We had enough materials to make 2 of these gorgeous planters. What do you think? Check out the full post here.

Nice! I love that they can be put together to be small or very large! There's a big ol' pine tree next to my parking spot and I finally have a use for it. It owes me for all of the sap & pine cones it dumps on my car! Can't get better than free!
