I'm sure you've seen these skinny little boxes containing Christmas trees at the dollar store. You probably asked yourself, how could it be anything good for a dollar? It's the same question I've asked myself every time I see them, but, after pricing small white trees, I decided to spend less than ten dollars and experiment.
Here is the tree in the box.
I loaded up on garland, sleeves of plastic ornaments, etc. I figured if I didn't use them for this project, I would for the next!
Here it is out of the box, fluffed up a bit. It is simple to put together, with only the base requiring a tiny bit of assembly.
Then I filled it in, draping the garland I purchased at the dollar store.
This is the garland I used.
I filled in the empty spots with the white garland I purchased at the dollar store.
Here it is with a felt wreath I also purchased at the dollar store to use as the "skirt", and a sleeve of red ornaments. Cute!
Here's a close-up of the "skirt". You also could use a pretty cloth or dish towel for this, but, I liked the felt wreath.
I had this butterfly, but, you can usually find them at the dollar store also. At this point I was just playing with it. The nice thing about the white tree I found is that all the colors I had to play with looked nice against the white. Using what you already have is a win-win!
Sitting on my hutch. I added a rusty star from my stash of craft supplies. The "garland" is silver pipe cleaners I had. The $4 listed is for the tree, the sleeve of ornaments, the garland, and the felt wreath.
