I bought a bag of ceramic eggs at a church yard sale this past summer. I knew I wanted to do something different besides dying them the old fashion way. Unicorn SPiT to the rescue! This stuff really is amazing.
First I added a few colors to a piece of plastic, a paper plate would work too. Here I have Zia Teal, White Ning, Molly Red Pepper and Blue Thunder. I put the egg on the paint and rolled it around. Then carefully turned it over and did the bottom. Using a finger dipped in spit to fix any empty spots.
This is Pixie Punk Pink and Zia Teal. Look how pretty the marbling is.
Navajo Jewel, Lemon kiss and White Ning. After I finished all the eggs, I let them dry overnight on a clean sheet of plastic.
The next day I painted them with a foam brush, using Minwax Fast-Drying Polyurethane clear semi-gloss (oil based). Then let them dry. *With Unicorn SPiT you MUST use an oil base sealer. Unicorn SPiT goes on vibrant but dries chalky but POPS back to life when you use an oil based sealer.
Purple Hill Majesty, White Ning, Pixie Punk Pink
Here they sit, all nice and pretty, on my kitchen table.

Frequently asked questions
Have a question about this project?
Each egg turned out so pretty! But I don't have access to ceramic eggs. So, I was wondering if I either lightly sand or put a light coat of spray paint on those cheapo plastic eggs (after gluing together), I should be able to do the same process?
Is there a way to use this method on a flat surface?
