How do i prepare a glass vase or any glass item for acryllic painting?

Wash well then wipe down with alcohol. Acrylic really doesn't last on glass, in fact no paint lasts great on glass. You'll have best results with oil based paint or spray paint.

Clean it with alcohol to remove any oils from handling it.

Hi Murray: I'd wash them well with white vinegar. Then, I'd pour the paint inside of the object so that the paint is inside and won't get scratched from the outside. If you are going to put anything inside of the vase, it may get scratched and you would then, paint the outside. Mod podge is a good base to use.

There are craft paints that you can put in the oven so it can be semi-permanent. For example, check out this project: Looks like she prepped just by cleaning and drying and applying alcohol.

Look at craft stores for Folk Art, Glossies, and Liquitex all make paint specifically for glass that is baked to set. Each has a different cure time, baking time and temperature.

I just wash the item well with Dawn liquid.

I sometimes wipe it down with alcohol on a cotton ball first. Good luck and stay safe!

Just make sure it’s clean and dry

Just clean it well and degrease it, you should be good to go.
