A Little Cartoon Village for the Kids

2 Hours
Easy
I don't know about you but my kids love cartoon characters. These weird little creatures draw them in and let them explore an imaginary world where all things are possible.
Now I'm not a big fan of using a TV as a baby sitter for my kids when they're bored. Don't get me wrong I'm not anti-TV, I just don't think it's the best thing to fill up those "MooooooooMMM, I'm bored" moments. Kids should be outside, exploring and living in their own imaginative worlds, not those created by others. To encourage them we got the kids to make their own little cartoon village out of bits of wood and a wedgie sandwich holder.
We cleaned the bits of wood and washed the sandwich wedgie container and gave them a coat of paint. While we were waiting for the paint to dry, the kids drew tons of pictures of how they wanted to village to look.
Using their cute little windows and doors and the black kitty cat we did a quick mock up of the village.
We used transfer glaze and outdoor Mod Podge to transfer the mock up to the bits of wood. The sandwich wedgie container makes the perfect roof and we added an antenna for the apartment block. I guess some kids are watching TV, lol!!
And kids are ready to play.........
Oh nooooooo we've been attacked by dinosaurs. Heeeellllppp!!! Save the kitty.

How do you keep the kids busy during the holidays?

P.S. You can see the full tutorial is on the blog. Come say hi, perhaps you can help us conquer that T-Rex
