Brass Lamp Makeover

Each month, 11 of my friends and I do a Monthly DIY Challenge. We pick a theme or challenge item and each make our own creative project.
I had two old, dated, ugly brass lamps from the 80s or 90s hanging out in my basement. They were destined for the trash until my friends and I decided on patina for our Monthly DIY Challenge. Destiny! I gave these old lamps new life with a patina paint kit!
First, I of course had to give these old lamps a good scrubbing. I just used paper towels and a small amount of dish soap for this.
Next, I gave the lamps a fresh new look using a patina paint kit (link to the product is available in my blog post tutorial ). It is an easy three step process starting with the brown coat of primer shown above. I brushed it on with a chip brush.
After allowing paint to dry for the recommended amount of time, I brushed it with the copper oxidizing paint.
Finally, I gave it a quick spray with the patina aging solution. This was the trickiest part because you have little control over where the spray runs. See my blog post for how I fixed this problem.
Tah dah! The perfect fix for these old lamps! For more "after" photos and detailed instructions click HERE! Thanks for visiting! :)
