Learn how to make decoupage tile coasters with napkins. This is an easy and inexpensive way to make coasters, and you can use any design you want.

You can find decorative napkins for decoupage on Etsy or in party stores. Just keep in mind that your coaster is 4 inches x 4 inches, so the pattern should fit on that size tile.

You will need:

  • 4 inch square coaster
  • Mod Podge
  • Tacky glue
  • Decorative napkins
  • Scissors
  • Foam brush
  • Felt circles

Start by cutting out one part of the napkin. Mine were white on two squares, but you can get two coasters out of one napkin usually.

Then apply a thin coat of Mod Podge to the tile. I also covered the sides, but you don't have to.

Place the napkin on the Mod Podge. Start from the center and gently press the napkin down and on the edges. Napkins tear easily when wet, so be careful.

Then cover with a coat of Mod Podge to seal it. Let it dry and cover with another coat. Repeat for a third coat. You can then use a coat of Mod Podge Hard Coat so the coasters don't stick.

Then use tacky glue to attach felt circles to the back. You can also use thin sheets of cork or felt.

These are water proof and will protect your table. Be sure to cover the back or use the felt circles so you don't scratch your table.
