Need something to organize and display your mugs? Create a DIY mug stand from scrap wood.

As we embarked on the journey of having a defined coffee area when came across the dilemma of where and how to store our mugs. After a few attempts at rearranging them in cabinets and drawers, we decided we needed to have them readily accessible. We then decided to display them by building this easy DIY mug stand from leftover wood from various different projects and some hooks I had ordered for another project that didn’t pan out.

This is how you can make your DIY Mug Stand...

  • Wood screws
  • 1- piece of 1x1 piece of wood cut to 16 inches
  • A piece of wood for the base- we used a 6x6x0.5 piece of wood that we had laying around
  • Wood glue
  • Stain/poly
  • 150 grit sandpaper
  • Hooks for mugs - we used 4 but you can add up to 8

  • Drill
  • Miter saw
  • Screwdriver

Step 1:

Cut wood to size.Step 2:

Sand and stain. We used a stain and poly mix in Dark Walnut.Step 3:

Attach the hooks to the 1x1" using wood screws. We used 3 sides of the wood to place hooks but you can use all 4 and add more hooks if you want.

Step 4:

Attach the 1x1" to the base piece of wood. Find the middle of your base piece and place the 1x1" on the top portion. Add glue. Flip upside down and place one wood screw on the bottom to secure the 1x1".Step 5:

Display and Enjoy your new DIY Mug Stand! Add your mugs and showcase your work of art.

This easy DIY mug stand added a special touch to our  DIY Coffee Bar . The stand itself popped as we placed it in front of our  DIY Shiplap Backsplash .
