Faux Cake for All Seasons
My friend Corine at https://instagram.com/junk_gems?utm_medium=copy_link made one of these faux cakes recently and it turned out beautiful! So I thought I’d make one with my own spin on it.
Best chalk paint!
I just set the flowers on top. Why not keep it a blank canvas and change it out for the different seasons!
I started out with a lightweight cardboard.
I cut a strip and taped it to make a cylinder. Obviously you can make this any size or thickness.
Trace a circle and cut it to size for the top of your faux cake.
Tape the two pieces together. I used packing tape.
I decided to make my cake chocolate and I had just the right brown chalk paint on hand.
Paint your cake form.
For the frosting I used joint compound and white paint. You made need to add a little water to get the proper consistency.
Now the fun part. Start frosting your cake. Once I frosted it generously I scraped some off so that you could see the chocolate cake peeking through.
Right now my cake is decked out for spring.
Imagine the possibilities!!
