Summer is wonderful, and we take the opportunity to eat outside in the garden, but the only bad thing is the unwanted insects that end up swimming in our drinks. I made something very practical as well as decorative. I hope you like this idea. Btw, the original version is from my mom, she crocheted them, soooo lovely, and she made a couple of them to give me as a present, since I am not good with crochet, I got the idea of making them with fabrics.

Start by finding scraps of fabric and use a plate to make a pattern, Mine is 20cm. Draw around the fabric and cut it.

Fold the edges and hand-sew around making rather large stitches, then pull the thread until the fabric is completly gathered. Now secure and knot very well.

You can decorate the center using pearls or buttons or laces, whatever you like. To glue it, simply use the hot gun or you can of course sew them.

It is important to decorate the center for two reasons: to cover the knot and to make the glass cover a bit heavy to avoid flying away. in case of very windy days.

This is the final result.

Note about how to keep them clean and wash them: When I used them, I put first paper cocktail napkin underneath (for the ones decorated with metal charms which I glued with hot glue; and the ones I decorated with laces (sew them-and not

hot glue), I wash them in the wash maschine...you can also sew the charms instead of using the hot glue. I also have done some others glass covers that I decorated with antique brooches, so before I wash them I just remove the safety pin and they are ready to wash.

You can make them bigger to protect not only drink glasses but a juice jar too.

These were made with cotton and with linen fabrics.

If you present them

all together in a little basket, you will see how your guests will start discussing about which one to choose :) this will be the first conversation topic of the evening
