If you are in love with the farmhouse fixer/upper just like most of us, certainly you have seen those gorgeous beads around any farmhouse decor collection. It’s always styled on coffee table books, trays, mugs or even carafes. After long browsing in different stores i bought one for 20 dollars, it was gorgeous but i wanted more to decorate them in my kitchen and patio set, but i found that a little bit over priced that’s why i decided to make my owns. Making them by your self is easier then it looks like, that’s why i made several styles from farmhouse style to boho, glam and even colorful ones for Easter. The beads themselves are the most costly here, but i found a good deal in Hobby Lobby, they were 50% off that day. So lets see how we can do that?

Supplies:

  1. beads
  2. wool thread or twine
  3. piece of card board like 6 inches high
  4. big needle
  5. scissors

if you use twine rope you don’t need a needle, just tape around the end of the twine and trim, think shoes lace so you can insert the twine through the beads.

You can get it from dollar tree store.

Making tassels

lets make the tassels first. You will need two tassels.

Wrap the twine around the cardboard 20 or 25 times.

Insert a piece of thread 4 inches in the upper side and tie a secure knot and trim the excess.

Cut the lower side of the cardboard.

tie a secure knot one inch under the first knot

and wrap about 10 times and then tie a secure knot again.

Trim the bottom if necessary.

Tassel done. You can add some beads in the tassel too its another way to make this beads.

Beads

Decide on the length you want to make your beads and cut a string. I used a wool thread so I needed the needle, but again the twine don’t need absolutely a needle.

Began fill the string with beads, i used one box of beads for two garlands, they were different sizes.

Tie the end to make a loop.

tie together the tassels and the beads very securely.

This is my one beads, you can leave them in natural wood color or paint them with paint for different seasonal occasions. Hang them to dry.

The project took. Me 20 minutes to make one garland, and it was very interesting and relaxing for me. Now I have my beads all around the house with different styles and colors for a fraction of price then the ready ones in the stores.
