I work with chandeliers often in my studio and find great parts at the flea market or thrift shop. See how to create a beautiful and useful cake stand from lamp parts...and it's not just for cake!
I found some vintage worn out lamp bases at the flea market and some assorted mismatched plates. Everything was then well washed and degreased in preparation for gluing and painting.
Next I glued the plates to the lamp bases, making sure that they dried for at least several hours before moving them.
I had several different lamp bases, so decided to paint some of them with metallic paints. I'll source some of my favorite paints below and you can see more on my blog, linked below as well.
For some of the cake stands I went more whimsical and hand painted the bases with acrylic craft paints. A great look for a spring party! See more on my blog shabbyfufublog.com by going to the DIY and Crafts category and subscribe to the newsletter for a free seasonal decor ebook!

Where are you purchasing the glass dome cover? Are they pricey?

Seeing as you have cloths on the plates my assumption is that they are not food safe once spray painted. Is that correct?

First of all, I adore how you decorate. Makes me smile looking at your photos on your website. My question is, which metallic spray 'colour' did you use on the short stand with four cute little legs? It's the one with the pink sugar cookies on it πŸ˜‹ It seems to be a champagne coloured spray? Or not. I really love that colour! Thank you in advance!🌸🌸
