How to Make DIY Frames

Hi Hometalk! Last time, I've shared the first part of how I repurposed chair parts, specifically the chair legs into a DIY Wooden Candle Holder. Today, I will be sharing how I upcycled the back part of the chair into DIY Frames!

I hope you'll enjoy this easy DIY makeover and will give you an idea of what to do if you have any unwanted/old chairs in your storage room.

These are the chairs that I dismantled.

And now these are the chair backs that I'll be using for the DIY Frame.

I started by cleaning the chair backs. You can use TSP or Vinegar/Water mixture.

The upholstery was easy to remove but there were a lot of nails left and just to be safe before going to our next step, I removed the nails with pliers. This part was the most exhausting part of the project.

After removing the nails, I used a wood filler to fill all the holes.

I used my compound miter saw to cut the frame to size. I know it's a bit of a stretch to use this to cut and remove the dowels. icon But you can definitely use a hand saw and it would work just as fine.

I sanded the frames to be ready for priming and painting. I used a primer/sealer it would prevent any bleedthrough and even the old odor of the piece.

Then the frames were painted, I used a soft white with a slight gray undertone mineral paint and then I followed it up by painting the top details with a smooth beige.

And for the last part, I drilled holes for each of the frames for hanging.

Here's the finished product! I used botanical prints and cut them to size and attached them to the back. I am really stunned how a little paint can do! Very easy makeover(except the nails removal)
