Doing the "Light up" challenge and meeting my great niece challenge for a cool box. And she loved it. She is into turtles and the sea. She will be storing her mini diaries and little treasures in here. Her romantic is theme is under the sea..
Lay down paper to protect your work surface and gather all your suppies. The box is of course the first item, then the wooden cut outs of your choice.Picture her are two turtles and a compass. (we all need direction).Gems, glitter washi tape, paint, glue, battery operated lights, ink pad, ink letters or decorations, and don't forget the batteries. (Also water to wash your brushes.)
Paint all your wooden items. It took only like twenty minutes to dry.
Then glue your wooden items on the box and the gems. Even though the glitter tape was sticking I used glue for extra support. The gems are all around the box and you see the turtles on top. (In next picture turtles are cover because didn't want people to see my niece name. It is very very strongly suggested never use your kids names on any post on the internet. It's to protect them from identity theft and online thugs. Also suggested not to use their pictures because people can steal them and use them on their websites).
This is the finished project. I forgot to take picture of the inside box but it's same color. There's a picture glue to the inside and my niece doesn't want anyone to see it. (use tape to hole lights in place.)
Here is how it look before the lights and name were added. (lol I did after all had a picture lol) but the lights make it so much cooler.
