I love the book planters. And wanted to do one. So I went to Goodwill and found a nice thick book. Didn't bother to even read the title. When I started my project, I loved the book and couldn't bare to rip it up. Back to square one. Soooo, I have loads of design magazines so why not use the old ones. But I love to flip thru them while relaxing with a cup of tea or martini. So to save them I only used two!
1 thin particle board cut to the size of the magazine
crystal clear paper cover
plastic plant container rim
thoroughly washed, washed, washed tuna can
flower heads or succulents
1 hour of your time.
Select magazines and select open page you want. I choose a water feature page.
cut hole size of plastic planter rim
cut hole and size of your crystal clear plastic page cover. This is an option. I did not want water marks on my page.
Hot glue on particle board to bottom magazine. I staggered the magazine on top of the bottom and hot glued the two magazines together.
Hot glue moss around plastic plant rim and hot glue rim into hole
A thoroughly washed tuna can or you can use a water bottle bottom. I used a can because it is sturdier. I did not glue can into hole. This will allow me to lift out and change water and flowers much easier.
Now add water and flowers heads. Gardenias smell wonderfully. And I still have my magazines! My husband asked me "Why not just put the flowers on top of the magazines and call it a day". I laughed out load!!! Then told him, "Because that would not be fun!"
Love my magazines!
See how I used my GoodWill tea cup on my blog. This teacup featured was actually made into a candle, no longer used. http://aperfectdaytodream.wordpress.com/2014/05/06/darling/
