Square Potholder Made From Old Jeans

This is a very fast sewing project. Make this potholder out of some old jeans in 30 minutes or less.
I used a pasta bowl to trace a circle out of a pair of old jeans.
Here's a circle I cut out.
Next, I figured out how big of square would fit in the circle. To do this I folded the circle in half an used a ruler to figure out how big I needed the center square to be. I then cut the square 1/4" smaller than the measurement I got. This gives me more room to work and makes this sewing project easier.
I cut denim squares and one accent fabric for the center of the potholder. You don't want to be too skimpy with the squares because these are what are going to protect your hands from the oven heat. I had fairly thick jeans and used three squares of jeans and accent fabric.
Pin two opposite sides down. Then pin the other two sides down.
Baste around the edges.

Using a zig zag stictch, make two laps around the pot holder, stitching the flaps down.
Enjoy your new potholder! Be sure to check out my other potholder tutorials.

I used to put pieces of old towels inside my homade pot holders. That would work well in this idea. Plue I have been looking at some old towels and trying to decide how to use them.
