There was no stopping me once I started aquiring vintage pins. These delicate pins started to accumulate and I knew it was time to start displaying my wonderful treasures. Afterall, what good is it if you keep your collection hidden away!
As you can see, I was into both whimsical and devotional type pins, Bakelite and Celluloid in particular.
I decided a dress form would be the perfect backdrop. It has a hard shell with an overlay of foam and stretch black fabric. That way the pins can only go in so far allowing me to easily latch and secure the pin to the form.
Thanks to many online auctions and family members who showered me with fabulous pins, the form is completely filled!
A very important part of this dress form are the items which depict various times in our lives. The basketball player and cheerleader represents my husband and I and our time together in high school as I cheered him on while he dribbled the ball down the court. :)
This pretty little pin is to memorialize our two babies, Josh and Julie, both miscarried in pregnancy. We look forward to meeting you little ones!
It was important to include historical events as well. I was so happy when I bid and won this gorgeous pin of the NY World Trade Center-Twin Towers. This pin is in memory of those who lost their lives this tragic day.
