I wanted to get creative whilst recycling some of my old worn and ill fitting blouses. As some tops were with beautiful flower motifs it had me thinking to create a piece of original art with them.

I begin by cutting out some of the flowers from my old clothes.

Cutting out flowers from old clotges

I then stuck the floral motifs o to sheets of ‘steam a seam’ which is a craft/ appliqué paper which is sticky backed and then easy to transfer to your art piece without the use of messy glue and won’t be ironing the art either!

Trimming around the details of flowers from

continue filling up the flowers on the ‘Steam a Seam sheets

Stick flower motifs into steam a seam sheets

I then choose a 15 x 12 ins box canvas that would be ideal size for a vase of flowers in it!

I paint in blue acrylic a quick rough coat with some swirly brushstrokes.

Acrylic blue painted canvas

I use Arteza self adhesive vinyl as it’s so versatile and comes in wonderful range of colours and is suitable for many surfaces. I cut out a vase shape to begin with.

I begin cutting out the stems and position these into the vase and splaying our ready for the fabric flowers.

Adding vinyl stems

Now comes the creative flower arranging part! Cutting out The flowers chosen and positioned onto the stems and ready to decorate vase.

Peel off the paper back and as the sticky mesh is left on the back of flower begin Positioning flowers on to the stems.
