I got hold of some softwood pallets used left over paint and also my painting paints, and painted the planks, and hand planed them then used an orbital sander and glued them to the wall, everyone has gone crazy over them, and the room has taken a new Beach Shack look, exactly what I had memorized in my mind.
I painted over the rough surface first using left over pain and also mixed in some of my acrylic paints as well from my other hobby ( I paint as well ).
The planks need not be even as the whole idea is to look rustic ,shacky, and care free. uneven is great, One is not looking for perfection here.then I randomly glued them using Sika Instan Nail, plan ahead as this product is Jurasic.
I added a lamp which is about 90 years old, I didn't paint it ,I left it as is with its old Patina, just a light rub with soft steel wool.
I also added some copper studs which I found in a jar at our Recycling Centre at our local tip ( Rubbish Dump), the wooden tray also came from there. The padlock is over 100 years old, came from our previous home which was an old sheep station ( Ranch). we renovated the house which was also 130 years old when we bought it, we were there for 32 years.

This is awesome! I rent a townhouse and will most likely get in trouble for doing this to the wall. However, too awesome to not. How did you paint the wood as not my expertise. I saw a big pail of white paint and several acrylic ones. Is this what I would need and how to brush on different colours. Technique please. Thanks.
