DIY Colorful Canvas Silhouette

It's amazing how something colorful can instantly change the feel of any room to fun and happy from dull and boring. This little painting is just the perfect example of it. Make one for the nursery you are decorating or a grown up version for your own bedroom! All you need for this incredibly simple DIY is some canvas and acrylic paints.
Choose a shape and start off by drawing it on a piece of paper and cut it to make a stencil. The stencil for this project is a heel but you can go with so many fun shapes - balloons for the kids' room or maybe your country's map, with toned down background colors, for the living room!
Cut out the shape.
Stick it to the canvas using double sided tape so that you can easily peel it off later.
Draw random waves or patterns over the canvas and start filling each section with a different color.
With acrylics, it is very easy to cover one layer with another to change the color. The dark green in the above picture was changed to a lighter shade later.
Start painting from the silhouette and stroke outwards. If your strokes are towards the silhouette, the paint can bleed under the paper.
Let the paint dry and peel off the paper.
So, what do you think?

I just love your painting ...congrats...it looks great! Puts me in mind of a friend her idea was for their fireplace (or anywhere really) she placed a red really tall high heel stiletto. It looks very modern and contemporary like your painting. Thanks for sharing. Patricia
