Learn how to create an adorable rainbow lettering sign! Perfect for a nursery, or kid's play room or anywhere you need a POP of color! It's a great beginner project for anyone who wants to try vinyl. We use a Paint, Vinyl, Paint, Peel method which is the best method for anyone new to making wood signs.
To begin your project, Grab your rainbow paints. I love Waverly chalk paint. It dries quickly and the colors are beautiful. Simply take a make up sponge and do quick swipes of each color...be sure to blend color from the previous color to the new one to create a soft effect.
Vinyl cut with my Silhouette Cameo
Next I cut out the lettering I wanted on my Silhouette Cameo and then weeded the space out around the letters on my word "awesome" and then weeded the letters out for "be" and "today". I then applied transfer tape to everything.
Apply your decal
Next I applied my vinyl to the board. I used clear transfer tape.
Paint over your lettering you laid down. with 2 coats of your paint.
Once that dries a few minutes, I peel off my vinyl, that will reveal your beautiful color underneath!
I then laid my other stencil on my wood and the painted INSIDE those lines with a nice gray, then immediately removed the stencil. I didn't even wait for the pain to really dry.
Finally you're left with a beautiful rainbow lettering!!! For more details on this project please be sure to visit our blog post at

Courage. I tattooed it on my arm after close to 40 years of marriage the day my divorce was final. Hang in there.
