How To Stop Rugs From Curling On The Corners and Edges

Have an area rug that curls on the corners? This simple tip will flatten your rug corners and prevent carpet from curling.

Moving back into our house has been fantastic and stressful all at the same time. I had area rugs for all of my rooms prior to the fire, but I have no idea what happened to them since then! No one knows where they are, ugh! 🤔 🤦‍♀️ Buying new area rugs is one of my least favorite things to do and I have literally dreaded it at every home we’ve ever owned! Rugs are usually pretty expensive and finding one in the exact colors and designs I want is always really hard!

We went a couple of months with no area rug in our dining room and it literally drove me crazy! So, as logic would have it, I finally settled on a new area rug one week before bringing home our brand new puppy! {genius plan…😂 }

My main objectives for a new area rug were:

1. Had to be big enough to fit in my gigantic dining room

2. It had to be neutral so I can swap out my decor and have it still match the room and because my dining room is open to the living room and needed to match the decor in there

3. Not break the bank

I had searched high and low at all of my favorite local stores and could not find anything large enough or anything that I liked. So, I took to Amazon and sure enough, I found an area rug I loved. I ordered an 8’x10′ and it fits nicely under my table, with several of feet around on all sides.

Curling Rug Corners

The rug was delivered to my doorstep {seriously one of my most favorite reasons to order on Amazon!} tightly rolled up. I immediately unpackaged it and placed it under my dining room table, on top of my MUST HAVE carpet pad floor protector. The new rug looked gorgeous, but on the end that was more tightly rolled, the edges wouldn’t lay flat. These curled up rug edges caused a lot of issues.

  1. A tripping hazard! I don’t even want to admit all of the trips that happened on the rug
  2. My new, incredible iRobot Roomba S9+ that my hubby bought me for Christmas had difficulty getting up over the curled edge when transitioning from wood to carpet
  3. A fun thing for a brand new puppy to play with who doesn’t know better
  4. It kept slipping away from the carpet pad
Solving The Problem

I knew I had to figure out a solution fast for my curling rug edges! I hopped online and began researching ways to prevent my rug to curl on the edges. To my dismay, many of the products I found actually attached directly to the floor. That was a huge no-no in my book. 1. We just had our wood floors refinished 2. The floors in my house are likely original to its build date of 1886, so in other words, “ain’t no way I’m stickin’ somethin’ on them!”

That’s where Curl Stop came in. I finally came across a product on my beloved Amazon that stuck to the rug itself and not my wood floors! That right there sold me on the product! I reached out to them and they sent me their anti-curling rug system to try.

It’s literally a weighed plastic sticker that adheres to each corner of your area rug and solves all of the problems with curling rug corners!

Let me show you how it works!
