Wintering My Plants

Kathy Bryant Steimel
by Kathy Bryant Steimel
Once I bring in my plants, I spray them with an insecticide and trim back if necessary.
I use regular shop lights and a rotating fan to stir the air.
I fertilize them every two weeks.
At the beginning of April, every week until they are ready to return outside.

Awesome tips! As a gardening newbie, I always wondered what gardeners did to protect their plants in the winter! Now I know :) Thanks for sharing!

Yep, my basement is full of plants also. Such a pain to carry them all downstairs but well worth it. I'm lucky to have two windows and I supplement with lights. My night blooming cereus love it down there. Just hoping I can keep my new Meyer Lemon alive!
