Decorating the Brick Cottage Project
After completing the rehab of the fixer-upper home, I decorated the space on a minimal budget to create a stylish space on a budget
Using thrifted furniture, diy a headboard and shop wisely, I was able to create a well curated master bedroom
This is the room when we first toured the house
cleared the clutter and pulled up the carpet, painted and got rid of the popcorn ceiling. A new flooring was installed and the room was painted a deep navy blue trimmed in bright white.
The headboard was made with plywood, foam, batting and fabric. After covering with the fabric, large upholstery nail heads were used to trim for a custom look
The curtain rods were originally white and spray painted them black. The curtain rings were brown and sprayed painted with metallic gold paint. The fabric for the curtains was $2.00/yd on sale. Each panel is 3 yards of fabric and basic pinch pleated on top. the vintage poster was $1.00 and framed using a basic black lacquer frame.
the mirror and all decorative items were purchased at thrift stores. the dresser was a freebie(being trashed by a neighbor). The dresser was cleaned with Murphy's oil soap and polished with Scotch guard to regain it's natural wood luster.
The patterned pillows were hand made using African wax fabric and mixed with simple store bought pillows
nightstands were purchased at an estate sale
the wardrobe was purchased on FB marketplace
