We used two tone in our cabinetry choice. Added a wall full of glass and slate. Stainless hood. The before pictures are at the bottom take a look . Our biggest challenge was the existing back splash the home owner had made with broken glass with her children when they were small. We had to remove it so that it could stay in one piece and was reinstalled in the garage for the home owner. see pic's below.
Kraftmaid Cherry
We removed the entire kitchen and found a supporting wall in the living room that had not be done correctly. We re supported the wall and removed the entire ceiling to fix problems and add can lights
A butler.
The island is Kraftmaid Onyx painted. We relocated the sink to the center island. and moved it here. see before 's below
This is where the island and sink were and it has now been removed. The refrigerator was moved from the wall and centered so it could be used. and we added a micro wave cooking center
The before with the very colorful back splash center island and pot rack.
you can see the dish washer and the sink and the high top or raiser of the bar. we removed from the dishwasher over. we extended the wall just a bit to cover the entry to the basement from the kitchen. by adding the wall we were able to gain an additional cabinet.
This shot shows the eat in area still has a table. and no butler. wow what an improvement.

I personally prefer the white cabinets, plus I am short so the lower cabinets work better for me. The new layout is much better but it seems like a lot of walking to use the kitchen, not an effective work triangle. Just my opinion.
