From Farmhouse Table to Kitchen Island

Years ago I bought this old farmhouse table at a flea market for 12.00. For years I wanted to convert it into a kitchen island but never got around to it. This was the year I made the dream come true.
life as a table just begging to have new life breathed into it.
Added wood to the bottom and then put it on wheels.
Removed the old top and created the shelves from it.
Faux granite finish painted on a plywood top.
Painted the shelves black and added the sides.
added a false drawer front and painted everything white.
Added a towel bar to the end.
cup handles added to the false drawer front.
added a couple of wrought iron braces under the over hang. Two backed stools in the back and two backless stools on the side. I now have a very inviting place to eat and work in my kitchen. I have less than 200.00 in materials and hardware in this project. The end result was far better than I imagined.

I used craft paint and sea sponges for the faux finish. The several coats of shellac to make it glossy. The plywood is 3/4 inch thick. you could add strips of wood to the sides to make it look thicker. I hope this is helpful.
