Midcentury Credenza Refresh

A sweet friend who is an interior designer sources this awesome midcentury piece for one of her clients and asked me to work my magic on it. It definitely needed some cosmetic work as there were spots of missing veneer, a cracked leg, and dripping varnish spots.
Top had been partially sanded
We decided to keep the legs and middle drawers stained and paint the body a glossy white. For that-I knew I would need to strip the old finish off the piece and get a clean slate to start with. I used Citristrip on the areas I planned to restain, and the rest I sanded with 120, then 220 grit. I was left with bare wood and a very open grain, so I skim coated the surface with some ready patch to mask the grain. The process was labor intensive but necessary for a smooth surface.

The drawers once cleaned were treated with a preconditioned and stained with @generalfinishes Antique Walnut gel stain. I sealed them with Wipe On Poly in Satin.

The body after cleaned was spray primed, painted in Ben Moore Decorators White, and sprayed with Minwax Gloss Polycrylic.

I also cleaned up the original Brad's hardware with Barkeepers Friend-a must have if you clean a lot of vintage hardware! Here is the outcome!
