Old Kitchen Chair Gets Makeover to a Child's Desk Chair

This sweet little desk chair had a makeover for a clients little girl personalized just for her-see how it all transformed below...
!A client requested a desk chair for one of her little girls, so I searched my stash and found an old painted kitchen chair from a garage sale that would work perfectly.
Removed chair seat to recover later-the seats are easy to remove with screws from underneath the chair, then just pull out the staples holding the old fabric. I then filled in deep chips in legs with wood filler and sanded smooth when dry. I lightly sanded all over the chair and wiped down with a damp cloth to ready the surface for paint.

I decided to try spray painting the chair in 2 bright colors that would match the room, plus give it a lot of personality. I also hand painted with pink acrylic paint in the grooves of the legs to bring out details. Got to show off those legs you know!!

The center panel of chair was perfect for adding an initial to the front and nickname to the back of desk chair- hand-painted using stencil and free hand in a fancy script

Recovered seat and added more fiberfill for extra padding and stapled to the bottom. Found some matching color ball fringe in my bins to glue and staple around the rim for extra bounce and fun.

For the final fun detail, I added just a tickle of multi-colored feather boa to the back of the chair behind the seat under painted nickname. A special chair for a special little lady!
