How to Update Hardware With Spray Paint

When I completed a teen bedroom makeover for my daughter, I wasn't able to find light fixtures in my budget in the color we wanted.

I decided to spray paint hardware and lighting to match the color scheme of the room.

Let's see how I did it!

Gold chandeliers were out of our budget.

But I found a great option in TJ Maxx for under $40.

The only problem was it was bronze and didn't match the color scheme of her new room.

No worries...let's just paint it!

I hung the chandelier in my garage to spray paint but removed some pieces of the light fixture to be sure I covered them well.

The trick with spray painting is to do several light coats.

Now the chandelier was perfect for this space!

Doesn't it look so pretty in gold?

We added a plug in light sconce over a full length wall mirror to create a vanity area in the bedroom.

Again I wasn't able to find an affordable option in gold.

I ordered a bronze light on Amazon for about $25 and spray painted it in the same gold color as the chandelier.

And now the updated gold sconce looks awesome above the distressed wood mirror.

It turned out better than we expected!

The new bed we bought for our daughters room makeover had four drawers under the bed without handles.

We bought inexpensive hardware but of course they weren't the correct color again.

The spray paint saved the day again and turned those silver drawer pulls gold to match the color scheme of the bedroom.

And now it's so much easier to open those drawers with the new gold hardware.

The last painting project we did for her teen bedroom makeover was the curtain rod and rings.

To save money we reused the curtains, rod & rings that she already had.

They were really pretty and went well with the style of her new room.

The only problem was the rod and rings were silver.

That's okay a quick coat of gold spray paint fixed that easily!
