I need to do something to my kitchen cabinets to bring some new life ?
has anyone done any stenciling in the middle of the upper doors?? if so, what kind of stencil have you used and what kind of paints? These are cabinets in a mobile home that I really don't want to paint over since all the wood in the entire place is the same, seems like if I paint those, I would end up wanting to paint everything and I just don't want to start that!!

Hi Kim, that sounds like a great idea that could be really pretty! Here's a video how to: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lurFqYQkMXk
I had a cousin who stenciled some doors on a freestanding cupboard. If I remember correctly, she cleaned the wood with alcohol where was going to paint and used acrylic. Then put a sealer on it. I can see how painting them would take you down a rabbit hole. Are there panels in the center? If so, you might also consider contact paper Another options is adding punched metal.
I have stenciled furniture cabinets and have seen it done on kitchen cabinets and I think it looks great. My only suggestion would be to use a roller when stenciling. I have found it to be best. I did a bathroom wall recently with the roller if you'd like to see the process. https://www.exquisitelyunremarkable.com/2020/04/how-to-stencil-a-bathroom-wall.html
Stenciling is a great option and there are lots of choices out there. I always use a stencil brush and 'pounce' the paint with an almost dry brush for the first round. That way, I don't get any bleeding. Once that dries, a go over it again with more paint.
Stencils are a great option. Look on Amazon for a size and patter you like. Acrylic paint is fine if you cover with poly. Use crystal clear poly if you want the color of the paint to remain the same. If you use regular poly it will darken the color of your paint.
there is a product called wallies they are like wallpaper but are in designs so you can wet and put onto furniture, cabinets, etc and it is easy to take off once you get tired of them

I have! Decide if you want lots of color, contrast or subtle. I recently did a wall using a subtle color. I have used a metallic on wood that was gorgeous! Good luck and stay safe!

thanks for the ideas, tried to follow the link for the stencils but it didn't lead any where, can you give me more info on where to find them?? Thank you
Hi Kim,
You can use anything that comes to hand - Plastic Doily etc. Stick it on with strong tape and use a stencil brush. You could also use wallpaper or contact to make a difference too, or for that matter fabric stuck on with Mod podge. Have fun.
