I found this on the flea market. This comes probably from Germany. Made from solid wood, was unfashionable and looked simply sad.
So I decided to make some changes.
Magazine rack entirely decomposes which made sanding easier (and painting too).
Inside part was painted with light gray, the same used for shading.
Shading.
And the look after painting with home made chalk paint (acrylic mixed with plaster of paris). I know that Americana or Annie Sloan paint would be better, so I plan to buy it next time :) Two layers of beige and some light gray shadows gave the rack new life and luster.
Next step - transfer - laser prints and some Car Plan product.
4 layers of satin acrylic varnish gave the rack good protection.
The same sentence I used for the bottom.

So cute. I have yet to purchase the expensive chalk paint. Always use the POP recipe and so far so good!

I like the way you did this and I never thought to take something apart before painting. I am going to try that! It looked do much easier!
