Repurpose Two-Tier Tray

This two-tier tray was upcycled using thrift store items. Some of the items used in this project were, different types of metal, and others were wood. So I used a faux galvanized metal technique so that the whole two-tier tray resembled galvanized metal.

Start out by base coating all the pieces using grey chalk paint. I love to use chalk paint because it adheres to just about anything without any prep work.

Once dry you will start sponging on the other colors, which include another shade of grey, black, and white. Leaving some of the under colors showing of each color.

Now you will go over the whole two-tier tray sponging on metallic paint lightly so that the other colors can show through giving it the look of galvanized metal. Keep sponging on lightly until you get the desired look. It may take two coats.

When dry glue on the ball knob, and put your two-tier tray together using screws and glue. For complete step by step directions and photos stop on by my faux galvanized two-tier tray post.

Thank you so much for replying back to my question! I wasn't as specific as I shoud've been - I'm sorry - what diameter screws did you use? I'm trying to figure out what size screw to use for stability. Thank you, you're a doll!
