Thrifted Box Spring Makeover With Paint & Dollar Tree Rub Ons

I love the new rub on transfers for sale at Dollar Tree. I have used them on several projects with great results.

This little wooden box was a Goodwill find at Christmas time. The little snowmen were hand painted.

This taller box with a paper label was also a thrift shop find.

I hand sanded the hand painted sides on the snowman box to make them smooth, and peeled the paper label off of the other one.

Then, after cleaning the boxes, I brushed two coats of Dixie Belle Chalk Paint in Drop Cloth onto both boxes.

I chose my Spring Dollar Tree Rub on Transfer to decorate the boxes. The transfers are now $1.25 each.

I used a flat stick to rub the transfer down on the front of the larger box.

I slowly pulled up the clear top sheet to remove it, just in case I needed to rub parts of the transfer still attached to the clear sheet down again.

I folded the transfer around the front corner of the box, and rubbed the balance of the transfer onto the side of the box.

Here is the Spring transfer on my taller box.

I actually had another Spring Dollar Tree Transfer that I applied to shorter box. I used the bottom part on this box.

I waxed both boxes with  Dixie Belle's Best Dang Wax in Clear.

I added a jute string handle to the shorter box.

I am displaying my little spring boxes with faux spring flowers! Easy and fun.
