My Summer French Bistro Dining Spot is almost complete...BUT...the Ugly, yet Important, Drain Pipe sits glaringly in plain sight.

Rather than using Smoke and Mirrors...Let's Try IVY and FAIRY LIGHTS to Conceal the Pipe and Enhance the View.

Hometalk Recommends!

Hide a drain pipe with these highly reviewed faux ivy strands and fairy lights that Amazon reviewers swear by!

The BEFORE...a cute bistro set with the unsightly Drain Pipe front and center...

Setting out a Window Box filled with Flowers helped to enhance the French Bistro vibe...but the 7-foot tall Drain Pipe still stood stoically in place...

Let's Tackle that Drain Pipe to Conceal It!

How to Conceal an Ugly Drain Pipe...

Materials You Need:

Faux Ivy and Fairy Lights. - 12 Ivy garland strands (each 8 feet long) with 1 strand of 90 LED Fairy Lights.

Ivy and Fairy Lights Package - Amazon LINK.

The Tools - Baling Wire and Wire Cutter...

The Baling Wire is used to wrap around the Drain Pipe - 2 Pieces of Baling Wire are needed - cut the length of the wire to fit around the Drain Pipe...One wire piece for the Top and one for the Bottom.

The Fairy Lights have a TIMER (!) - Set it and Forget it!

5 Hours ON and 19 Hours OFF.

How to Conceal a Drain Pipe with Faux Ivy and Fairy Lights:

Step 1: Measure the wire to fit around the pipe - the wire is used to secure the Ivy to the Drain Pipe.

Step 2: With a short piece of baling wire, wrap the wire around the top of the ivy strands...

Twist the Wire to secure it to create a wire loop on the Ivy for hanging...

Step 3: Insert one end of the wire into the ivy wire loop...

Insert the other end of the wire into the loop on the battery pack of the Fairy Lights...how convenient is that loop on the battery pack(!)

Step 4: With the Ivy and Fairy Lights attached to the Wire, Wrap the Wire around the Top of the Drain Pipe...

Twist the wire to secure it at the top of the Drain Pipe.

Step 5: Fluff the Ivy and Fairy Lights to cover the Drain Pipe. Pretty.

Step 6: Cut and wrap a piece of baling wire around the base of the Drain Pipe - this will secure the Ivy and Fairy Lights to the bottom of the Drain Pipe.

Done! Can You See the Drain Pipe???

Finally...the French Bistro is Open for Business...

Cute, Cozy, and Surrounded by Lovely Green Foliage...

Lattes and Croissants are Now being Served...Simply Magical!

Why didn't you put up a rain chain? It would be so much prettier.

Great idea? However, just wondering, does the water puddle after a rain??

Hi Karen...Yes, painting the pipe first is a good idea...hanging the ivy and fairy lights was a quick option and does a great job of concealing the pipe...maybe this season, we'll opt for some paint...Thanks for your comment. Jeanne of Doodle T and Me!
