Many gardeners try to plant shrubs and flowers that attract birds during the spring and summer. But what about the winter months? How does a gardener go about attracting birds in winter?

These bird feeding tips will make sure that your yard is a welcoming place for our feathered friends all year long.
It's easy to refill bird feeders in the summer but not so much fun when the yard is full of snow. Use larger bird feeders to attract more varieties.
The type of feed is very important in winter months. Be sure to have lots of protein rich suet on hand for the birds.
Planting shrubs and perennials that set out fruit in the winter gives you a free source if food for birds.
I grow grasses along my fence line. The plums of seed heads give winter interest to the garden and are a good source of food for many birds.
