When staining our 3 decks, I decided that the lid to the deck stain looked like a sunflower, once the wheels started turning there was no looking back! Here's how I turned the lid into a sweet decorative item for the yard.
After emptying a can of stain & the lid dried for a couple of days, I bent the tabs out and put on a basecoat using acrylic paints ( OK for outdoor projects kind)
Let dry & do 1-2 more coats. Then its time for the details. The screw off cap is a ladybug & circles of dots for seeds.
I attached an empty mushroom can to the back with small bolts & nuts. This is to slide over a metal fence post for hanging.
Next, I cut leaves from an empty soda can & attached to fence post with wire
I did attach a wire from bottom petal to the fence post to keep the wind from blowing the flower head. Now it stand securely.
And there it is, looking pretty! Hope you like it as much as I do!
