When we first moved in..all that was here was a deck in bad shape, since it was winter we pretty much put things down and waited till we can do something...
This past summer we removed the deck and completely redid the entire back yard accept for the pond area..that is this year's project..enclosing the area and making the pond bigger...also adding 3 ducks ...currently the pond houses a variety of fish, toads and 6 turtles....
We basically just put everything done and waited for winter to end...
Part of the backyard area...previous owners left that wishing well...we planted a peach tree that we brought with us from previous residence and made a boardwalk (reclaimed lumber) to the pond area..pots of plants we also brought with us waiting to be planted.
Pond in and boardwalk leading to the pond...now was time for more vegetation.
Boardwalk is made from reclaimed lumber.
This was a temporary decorating phase...all of this in now gone now relocated to other areas...up to this point, only cost is a liner for the pond.
Living in Colorado you never know when it will snow, so planting is delayed again. We during the winter have a deicer in the pond to prevent it from freezing over.
Resident toad
Built a foot bridge, can support 4 people with no trouble. Made a foot bridge from left over wood...
We bumped out some additional pond area...
Another view of the extended area of the pond.
Neighbor had some mint he did not want..prefect for going around a pond...2 small pine trees from a nursery in the help me area, namely dying and needed extra TLC...
Vegetation filling in, from morning glories from seed, peach tree pond
vegetation and sunflowers planted by birds and squirrels ..we put down a few strawberry plants too that quickly took over the area, but the toads loved laying under them.
Though everything is growing and the many fish, toads and 6 turtles enjoy it, this year we are enlarging the pond and enclosing the area to protect the creatures back here..so watch for phase 2.
