Hi Pat, I would look into Rustoleum's plastic out door spray paints. I've heard really good things about them and Rustoleum has never let me down in the past. Prep: I would power wash it first.
Hi Pat, here's some info I located for you. I hope it's helpful.

Krylon has a good outdoor spray paint that I've used. I would use frog paint to cover any hardware on it.
Clean it first and use spray paint designed for exterior plastic.
If it's going to be outside, just make sure the paint is exterior.
I empty ours and pressure wash it first inside and out then I painted it with this paint

Rustoleum makes a multi-surface spray paint. Clean the storage box well and the use this paint.
Hello, I would suggest a good cleaning and armour all application.
The plastic friendly spray paints do work —but severely chip and fade in a matter of years with outdoor exposure.
Rustoleum 2X spray paint or Kylon Fusion. Both are made for plastic
Thoroughly clean, perhaps pressure wash first. Then scuff with fine steel wool and wipe down with tsp or denatured alcohol. Spray paint with a plastic formula paint. I have used Krylon on some outdoor chairs and it worked great. I did it 5 years ago and except for 1 chair that got tossed about in a storm they still look like a new paint job.
If you use a spray paint made for plastic, you will be good. Just scrub it will with warm water and liquid soap, let it dry completely. Make sure you give it a light coat, let it dry completely and then give it another coat of paint. You can then use a spray acrylic sealer made for out of doors.

Hello Pat,
Spray Paint especially for Plastic. "Plasticote"
Hello. This is a great question. I used some plastic friendly aerosol spray paint on Adirondack chairs which are a similar plastic and the paint job sadly only lasted a few years. Exposed in our weather conditions in central Virginia the pain begin shipping off.
I would just keep that in mind when you make your product choice.
