Hi Buster, Something I have seen people do is buy a couple of cloth napkins (or even tea towels) in a nice pattern and lay them over the arms of the chairs. This way you can find a pattern you like and you don't have to sew. They can also easily be washed when needed.
Hi Buster is sewing is not really something you're looking for I would check Amazon for "chair arm covers" some of them even come with pockets etc.
Hi Buster
Here is some help for you

You could add a decorative cover out of a coordinated material. Size and shape would depend on if you want it to be fitted or something that simply lies over the areas. Many recliners now come with covers that are a simple rectangle draped.
In order to make a fitted cover find the material you want and put it face down on the arm rest. Gather the edges in two pieces front and armrest top cover to make a fitted piece that wraps and use straight pins to hold together. Sew the seams together then turn under the edges and hem. Turn material right side out and it should be a perfect fit.
If you just want a flat cover the arm and not fitted over the front edge, get a piece of material long enough to fit from one arm to the other and under the seat cushion. Let the strip cover the armrest and hang over a foot or so on each side with the seat cushion keeping in in place.
Here's a video that will show you how. You can use whatever cloth you want.
Something similar could be created for the back of the chair as well. Rather than sewing you can locate fabric glue to glue any seams.

Here is a tutorial to help you. You can also buy they already make in many colours. This would be the cheaper option if you do not want matching fabric. https://youtu.be/2ghjZfFP6JI

Hello Buster,
You can buy Chair backs! They are fabric (very often Tapestry or cotton) lengths of fabric about 24" x 12"wide hemmed at one end and with either Lace or a fringe on the other. You can make them from anything you have that will do the job, even small towels.
Best wishes
Here is a tutorial for the arms. The head is just a piece of fabric added to the back with self adhesive Velcro.
