Industrial Retro look?
Hi I have some living room furniture which I would like to up cycle to go with the rest of the deco of my house. I want it to be kind of retro, industrial, rustic and wondered if anyone had any ideas. I was thinking along the lines of using chalk paint and changing the legs to hairpin but any input would be appreciated.

You could paint it then attach a tin tray to the top and add a wire basket to the shelf .
Hello Carley! You could change the legs to hairpin but it might be difficult to remove the present legs from the top. Can you see any screws that are holding the bottom portion to the top? Or is it glued? If it's glued you could consider a metallic paint.
There are some metallic chalk paints, waxes and glazes out there. Dixie Bell, Country Chic, Modern Masters, etc. Here's some inspiration for you!

Or you could use this film, it is peel and stick to look like checkerplate. Very industrial looking

Carley: I think the cheapest thing you could do is simple paint this black or metal-grey ...for an industrial look!
What do you mean by legs? The whole base? I like the base and think it's cool!
I think if you use chalk paint to paint this piece black, gray or navy should help it in making the look more modern.
I think this probably fits well with the look you are going for I would paint it a neutral gray.
Paint it black with streaks of silver and gray in the direction of the grain. Add some corner brackets to the top.

How about a top painted in a metalic and use decorative tacks all around the top edge. There are 100's of colors and styles in tacks online. Chalk paint the bottom a dark grey.
Hi! I sometimes add wheels to a piece of furniture to give it an industrial look. On this piece, I put galvanized metal on the top and wheels on the legs after painting it.
Which style are you wanting to transform this end table into - retro, industrial, or rustic? These three decor categories are very different.
Add some metel plates to it try to go to Home Depot and look around for sheet metel and just screw a nice looking piece in the front or get a floor fegester and screw the front plate on the front of the table maybe add some decorative screws on the corners or get some metel corners at home depot.
I like the storage space in the middle, which I think you'd probably lose if you changed the legs out. What if you changed the top part to something darker and/or painted it? Maybe you could add hardware or tiles to the edge to give it a different look.
Hello,
Do you have any pictures of your existing furniture? Could be anything from Paint layered and knocked back, heavy bolts and plates/straps added or Dark stained with cast iron casters.
I think that’s a great idea. Chalk paint and hairpin legs would look amazing
I would for sure use one color of paint to make a statement
Your description is kinda confusing, first retro what? mid-century is when they used hair pin legs. https://www.google.com/search?sxsrf=ALeKk029_QnDUBLtY2WJDeernCkbhoNB7Q:1607561243407&source=univ&tbm=isch&q=pictures+of+retro+end+table&client=opera&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwjKp_immMLtAhUhJTQIHZ1mBZgQjJkEegQIBBAB&biw=1326&bih=627
Industrial is more chunky with metal accents which looks like it would go with your piece better. I would stain it dark, and then get some metal plates, knobs, in a bronze tone. https://www.google.com/search?q=pictures+of+industrial+end+table&tbm=isch&ved=2ahUKEwiF38GqmMLtAhWOGTQIHWv9CUcQ2-cCegQIABAA&oq=pictures+of+industrial+end+table&gs_lcp=CgNpbWcQDDoECCMQJzoCCAA6BQgAELEDOggIABCxAxCDAToECAAQGFC71gJY2pwDYL2yA2gAcAB4AIABzQKIAbsYkgEJMTcuMTAuMC4xmAEAoAEBqgELZ3dzLXdpei1pbWfAAQE&sclient=img&ei=InDRX4XGNo6z0PEP6_qnuAQ&bih=627&biw=1326&client=opera
Steam punk also has a great industrial flare using found objects.... https://www.google.com/search?q=pictures+of+steam+punk+end+table&tbm=isch&ved=2ahUKEwjzovXFmMLtAhUPJjQIHYNUBTsQ2-cCegQIABAA&oq=pictures+of+steam+punk+end+table&gs_lcp=CgNpbWcQDFDhxgJY1ugCYOX9AmgAcAB4AIABeIgBnwaSAQM4LjKYAQCgAQGqAQtnd3Mtd2l6LWltZ8ABAQ&sclient=img&ei=XHDRX_OEFo_M0PEPg6mV2AM&bih=627&biw=1326&client=opera
Rustic is more country. I would sand off the top coat and then distress the piece, then accent it with a darker stain or a colored paint wash. https://www.google.com/search?q=pictures+of+country+end+table&tbm=isch&ved=2ahUKEwjwtZDemMLtAhWnAjQIHcMuDQgQ2-cCegQIABAA&oq=pictures+of+country+end+table&gs_lcp=CgNpbWcQDFCShgVYpJQFYP-tBWgAcAB4AIABZIgB8QOSAQM2LjGYAQCgAQGqAQtnd3Mtd2l6LWltZ8ABAQ&sclient=img&ei=j3DRX7CyCKeF0PEPw920QA&bih=627&biw=1326&client=opera
