I combined Unicorn Spit and Annie Sloan chalk paint to give this Hallway Table a new look.
I saw this Hallway Table advertised online, it was originally covered with black stain. I sanded it smooth and covered some small cracks with timber mate water based wood filler. When the filler was hard I sanded it level with the timber.
I wanted to give the top a unique look with the intention of painting the remainder of the table to match the top. I sealed off the top with painters tape and A4 paper. (It is what I had readily available)
I painted the top with 2 coats of Annie Sloan Emperors Silk chalk paint, sanding each coat with 400 grit sand paper.
I used Unicorn Spit, Midnight Blackness and Molly Red Pepper and randomly spread it over the top squeezing it from the bottle. I sprayed the top with water from a spay bottle and placed a piece of plastic over the top . I blended the Unicorn Spit by running the palm of my hand horizontally along the table until I was satisfied with the coverage.
I peeled the plastic off, starting from one end of the table to the other.
Happy with the look I sealed the top with two coats of polyurethane.
I covered the top and painted the body with two coats of Annie Sloan Emperors Silk Chalk paint, Sanding each coat with 400 grit sand paper.
I wanted the draw face to match the top of the Hallway Table. I removed the brass draw knob and sanded the black stain off the draw face. I painted it with two coats Annie Sloan Emperors silk and randomly added Unicorn Spit Midnight Blackness and Molly Red Pepper as I had done for the top. I sprayed the unicorn spit with water from a spray bottle before getting a piece of plastic and placing it over the unicorn spit. I used the palm of my hand to blend the Unicorn Spit as I had on the top.
I removed the plastic, happy with the result, I sealed the draw face with two coats of polyurethane.
I cleaned the knob with Brasso metal polish.
I painted the knob with primer before painting it with Annie Sloan Emperors Silk.
I repeated the process on the knob that I used for the top of the Hallway Table and draw face.
Sealing it with two cotes of polyurethane
I sealed the body of the Hallway Table with a coat of Annie Sloan clear wax and two coats of Annie Sloan black wax.
