It depends on what you're using them for. It can be used to hold light items, but if you want to remove the velcro as some point, the leftover adhesive on the door may be a problem. Have you considered Command hooks?

I've found better luck with command strips on doors. They hold better and tend not to leave any residue behind after you want to remove them.
Are you referring to a screen door or a wooden front door?

You can use the heavy duty velcro to add decor to your door and surrounding area. However, you will most likely have to paint when you remove it.
