Updated My Front Door

We purchased our house in November of last year, and I wanted to update my front door. Unfortunately, my husband wasn't going for the $8000.00 door that I wanted. So I made do with some tint and paint... and I love it!
Before... The lead glass was very expensive I'm sure, and was great quality.. But I HATED the gold. I decided to have the glass replaced with smoked glass-- but then I was in Lowes and found some window tinting. So I decided to try it myself before I had the glass replaced.
My daughter and I added the tint to the inside and I loved it. Then we added the tint to the outside also. It could be done with one person- technically... but having an extra set of hands made it a whole lot easier!
The tint wasn't hard to do at all... but I'm not a perfectionist.
I had a professional paint the outside of the doors- I could have done it myself, but I really wanted it to have a professional look. I added two wreaths that I made and a pumpkin topiary I bought at Kohls (I've ordered another for the other side). I feel like it really updated the front entry and made it a lot more contemporary. It also really helped block the sun. Our house faces west and I didn't realize how hard it was to work with the afternoon sun! I really love the results-- for a cost of less than $100.00 for the tint and $150.00 for the paint/labor!

Looks nice! ....I hate to bring this up, but you should check with your glass supplier depending on where you live about the film causing breakage of the glass. I have seen this happen on many jobs like hotels that added tint film to glazing...

Your new look is more 'today' & also looks much more expensive. Your idea to cover the glass is really smart.
