DIY Farmhouse Style Wood Display Riser | Fun Decor Piece
I like to vary the height of items when decorating and it was time for a diy with a nod to farmhouse style!
I had scrap wood that would work for this project and wanted something fun to use for the feet, and I knew I wanted them to be wood, so I looked around until I found something I thought would be perfect.
(but of course you could use several things.)
I found some wood in my scrap pile and got to work.
I used my sander to smooth out the wood and then brought it inside to paint.
I was going for a Farmhouse look so I didn't completely cover the entire board. I left small area's with the natural wood showing through.
After the paint had dried, I took it back outside to sand again.
I used my sander to get rid of the paintbrush markings as well as to distress it even more, and show more of the natural wood.
Then I brought it inside and using wood glue I placed my 'feet' where I wanted them to go.
After they dried I had fun moving it around the house and trying it out in several ways.
I loved it so much I made a second one and added gray to it, and I am definitely making more of these!
The one shown measures approx. 6" x 13"
Very versatile decor piece and can be made in so many sizes, shapes, and colors!
(I share a few more pictures in my blog post, and in my video.)
I am definitely making another one in a dark wood stain as well!
Should I leave the wood feet natural with a dark wood stain top, or paint them white? Hmm.. kind of leaning towards the natural.
Enjoyed the project?

I like to add different levels to my decorating too. Usually I use old books, but this would be great for those smaller places, Thanks so much for sharing this!
