Pumpkin Garland

I absolutely love fall, it’s got everything going for it… Halloween, pumpkin spice, beautiful colors, and the relief from the scorching summer! Aside from Christmas it’s really the only time I decorate my home. I love decorating in a way that will last all season long.

This year I was wandering around Michael’s and found these bags of cream pumpkins for 40% off. I knew I had to get them, and make a garland.

I bought some rust colored twine as well to being in another fall color, But you could use regular brown twine too.

I started my making holes through the steams of each pumpkin with my dremel tool. I placed a scrap piece of wood beneath to give my desk some protection.

I repeated this an all 18 pumpkins. It was a little messy, but not too bad.

When I finished I moved onto the twine. If you’ve ever tried stringing something onto twine you know it can be a bit difficult to keep the end of the twine from fraying.

My trick for avoiding this, super glue! I add just a little to the end of the twine and allow it to almost dry. Then I squeeze the end between my fingers to make sure all the fibers are nice and stuck together (use something plastic to keep the super glue off your skin). 

Once it’s dry and all stuck together I trim the stuff part at and angle with my scissors. This makes the end of the twine more like a needle. Much easier to thread through beads, or in this case pumpkins.

And when you’ve finished threading all the pumpkins on to your twine you’re ready to hang your garland! I added some wood bead garlands I had previously made.

I used the leftover twine to make some cute tassels to hang at either end of my garland. Now I just need to find some other cute fall decor to place on my shelf and this area will be Fall ready!
