Spooktacular Halloween Mantel

This year I decided to get really into the Halloween spirit. My sons are two and one and I wanted to make something very special for them without scaring the life out of them. They are after all still very little.
My fireplace mantel gets changed around often depending on the season or holiday. For my Halloween Mantel I wanted to create Halloween crafts my oldest toddler and I could make together during craft time.

He loved being involved in the process. We made the Jack-O-Lantern garland together and the Pinecone Spiders that sit on the wreath inside the wine crate.
This Spider Family Wreath we also made. My kids love looking and touching them and each spider represents a member of our family. Will just note that these spiders only have 6 legs and I understand that spiders have 8 legs. I state this here because I have had comments on my spider tutorial correcting me on the 8 legs situation which is fine but I was short for time the day I made them and really... if we can have witches, goblins, frankenstein and all those other scary characters and creatures during Halloween I'm sure 6 legged spiders shouldn't be too out of this world... right? ;) haha. Ok.. I admit I was being lazy but my kids don't know the difference just yet! If you make a Halloween Pinecone Spider with older kids that understand... give them 8 legs! ;)
My owl silhouette painting is the main feature on the mantel. I painted this just using black watercolour paint and I drew the owl and tree freehand. Was a really simple project to do. I was really happy with how it turned out.
And of course you can't have a Halloween Mantel without cute pumpkins everywhere! I'm seriously addicted to buying miniature pumpkins, they are just SO cute!

I go through all the tutorials on my blog. If you like the look of any and are looking for last minute craft projects click on the link to see the easy step by step tutorials for these projects and more!
