How to Lighten Pine Cones Using Bleach

This is an easy project requiring more time than effort, but worth it overall.
I had a few friends asking about the lighter pine cones I used in my Fall Table Centerpiece.
I lightened them using bleach.
I have lots of pine cones around my yard and I like to gather some to use in decorating my home. Especially around the fall and also during the holidays, too. This wasn't difficult to do, but did require some time and patience.
I really like the lighter color and how well these go with my neutral decor. I even use them together with the other pine cones as well.

When I pick pine ones from the yard for decorating holiday wreaths, I bake them at 250 for 15 minutes. This not only kills little critters that can be brought into your house but also prevents them from closing up outside in the cold Northeast weather.
