Pallet Wood Christmas Tree

My niece knew I had made a few projects using pallet wood, and saw the pallet wood Christmas tree ideas online. She asked if we could make a pallet wood Christmas tree -- of course - we made two! This was our Thanksgiving day family project!
While the turkey was in the oven, we were outdoors painting pallet boards! I had pre-cut all the boards earlier in the week, so we would have the fun stuff to do on Thanksgiving.
I cut 5 boards to different lengths and two smaller pieces which I fastened together to make a square, set on a tilt for the tree topper.
My niece put her mask on and got to work! We painted the branch boards a dark hunter green.
And painted the trunk board brown.
We painted the tree topper red...
And added stencil Christmas tree decorations...
We attached the branches and star to the base of the tree! My niece was planning to put hers on the porch, so I made a base for her using two 2x4s.

I used dado cuts and cut one dado the width of a 2x4 and the other the width of a 2x4 + depth of the pallet board. I attached the pallet board to the base with screws, then crossed the dado cuts and screwed them together to make a secure fit.
