DIY Christmas Mantel Decor
What started as a simple knitted snowflake and some tipsy wine pines for hostess gifts, turned into a full blown Christmas Mantel. After knitting the snowflake and tiny pines, I wondered how hard it would be to do an i-cord swag with a little snowflake like embellishments. Not so hard, as it turns out, and sewing beads into the flakes was easy and dramatic.

The Finished Mantel with fresh cut balsam, white pine and cedar.
Swag detail with beads sewn into the stars.
Once the tiny pines were completed I couldn’t help but wonder how they would look in larger sizes and with beads. Here are a few I put together. You can use almost any yarn in any color palette and make a forest of these little cable trees to use in your home decor.
Bigger knit Christmas Tree to show scale. This is really a fun and easy project that mixes natural materials with fun yarns.
