Christmas Decor: How to Make a Beautiful DIY Ornament Garland
Instead of just using those Christmas ornaments for your tree, why not string them together and make a festive, colorful DIY ornament garland to adorn your table?

Today, I am going to show you how to make this Christmas garland with ornaments, it’s super easy and such a great way to decorate this holiday season.
To create the garland, I ended up using three large 35-piece packages of Christmas bulbs. I picked them up last year on the discount rack at Michaels so I was able to get them really cheap.
They need to have those hooks that protrude as we will be using these to attach the ornaments to the string lights.
The only thing needed besides ornaments is a set of battery-operated string lights. For this project, it is important to use the battery pack option and not those that plug in since the DIY ornament garland is going to be placed on a table.
1. Stretch out the string lights
Start off by stretching out your string light along a flat surface.
2. Remove the hook from an ornament
Now, you are going to pull out the hook from one of your ornaments.
This is what the hook looks like when removed from the Christmas tree ornament.
3. Attach the hook to the string lights
Slide the hook around the wire of the string light and pinch it together at the end.
4. Slide the hook back into the Christmas ornament
Next, you need to reattach the hook into the same space it came from on the Christmas ornament.
There is no need to use any glue or wires. The hooks are easy to remove and replace and they remain intact.
Now you have your first ornament attached to your string lights.
5. Repeat the process across the string light garland
Repeat this process on either side of the light garland and alternate the colors of the baubles you use.
You want to make sure you do not get too many of the same color in one area, so take your time to decide exactly how you want the Christmas ornaments to be spread out.
It does take a bit of time to attach all of the Christmas balls but it’s so worth it.
You will need to make the DIY holiday ornament garland as long as your table so if you have any extra lights hanging off the end you can just work those back around under your garland. You don't have to use the full length of the string lights.
6. Style the DIY ornament garland
Once you are finished attaching all your Christmas ornaments to the string lights place your new DIY ornament garland on your dinner table and position it down the center so it has a natural flow.
Now, all you need to do is turn the lights on and hide the battery pack by tucking it underneath the garland itself, so you do not see it.
This is such a simple and easy DIY that anyone can do, and it looks so fun and festive on my dining room table. I actually like shutting all the lights off and seeing it flicker and glow when I walk by.
